Will Guided vision work on my Android phone?
Guided vision extends Gemini Live camera sharing with spoken framing guidance and scene descriptions. Google designed it with blind and low-vision communities, but the rollout is still not equivalent to “available on every eligible account.”
Current verdict
Android 9+ meets the published OS floor, but the phone also needs Gemini mobile availability in the user’s country/language. Google’s September announcement still describes Guided vision as coming soon, so an eligible result is not a guarantee that the control is live today.

When you share your camera in Gemini Live, Guided vision can describe what is in front of you and give voice feedback when the camera needs to pan, reframe or center an object. Google gives examples such as reading fine print or identifying household objects.
Why Android 9 does not mean universal availability
Android 9 is only the OS minimum. Google ties the feature to countries where Gemini is available, and the announcement points users to Gemini country, territory and language availability. That is why the checker asks for region and whether you are using a supported Gemini mobile language.
Where to look for it
Google says Guided vision can appear through Accessibility shortcuts, the TalkBack menu or Gemini App Settings. Those are better places to check than searching for a separate Guided vision app.
Safety boundary
AI camera descriptions can be wrong. Guided vision should not be treated as a safety-critical navigation, medical or hazard-detection system. Use appropriate accessibility and mobility tools for decisions where an incorrect scene description could cause harm.
