Android AICore: a local AI runtime, not a universal feature guarantee
Google documents AICore as a system service that runs generative AI directly on Android hardware. The same help page also makes the key limitation explicit: availability varies by device and manufacturer.
Use that as stronger evidence than the chip name alone.
The documented OS floor
Google says Android AICore is available on devices running Android 14 and higher. The service manages on-device AI models such as Gemini Nano and is designed so supported tasks can work locally without sending the input to an external server.
Why “Android 14+” is not enough
Google also states that feature availability varies by device and manufacturer. That means the OS version is necessary for the AICore path, but not sufficient proof that every supported feature is exposed on your phone.
AICore does not prove arbitrary model loading
AICore is Google’s managed system AI path. If your goal is to download a separate 7B model into a third-party app, verify that app/runtime directly. Device Fit Check therefore refuses to turn “AICore present” into a blanket verdict for any downloadable model.
How to use the checker
- Select Android and the exact chip generation if you know it.
- Select your Android version.
- Choose AICore only when it is present or documented for the phone.
- Choose the workload you actually care about.
