Why don’t I have Google Keep in Google Messages?
Google Keep can now create and share notes from inside Google Messages. This is an app-level rollout, so the most useful compatibility check is whether the required apps are current and whether the rollout has reached your account.
Current verdict
Use current Google Messages and Google Keep apps. Google started the global rollout on September 1 and now has a live Keep Help page for the feature, but staged app rollouts can still explain a missing + → Keep Notes option.
Check my phoneHow it works
Inside a Google Messages conversation, tap the + button and choose Keep Notes. You can create text or lists, share them into the conversation and keep editing the shared note. Android users can see the note preview update as edits are made.
A privacy detail worth knowing
Google notes that the message itself can be end-to-end encrypted while the shared note is hosted by Google Keep under Google’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. The note therefore does not become part of the Messages encryption model just because its link or preview appears in an encrypted conversation.
Why the option may be missing
The integration was announced as a rollout starting September 1. Update Google Messages and Google Keep first. If both are current and the button is still absent, a staged app/account rollout is more plausible than a hardware incompatibility.
No need to chase an Android 17 update
Unlike Motion Assist, Google did not publish Android 17 as the requirement for this Messages feature. Treat it as an app capability, not as proof that your phone needs the newest Android release.
